Academic
The School has the benefit and guidance of the Madhavi Kapur Foundation set up by Ms Madhavi Kapur 9 years ago, with the help of senior teachers who have been working with her for many years. Currently MKF is consulting various schools all over Maharashtra and conducts regular workshops for teachers at their Koregaon Park office.
MKF is constantly involved in Teacher Training and Assessments to enhance teachings skills among our already competent staff. A special curriculum has been designed for various subjects to take care of every aspect of a child’s growth and development. There is periodical evaluation to assess the development at school and necessary steps are taken to maintain the quality of teaching.
Sports
We are pleased to announce a tie up of our school with School Sports Program (SSP), a specialist physical education company, starting from this academic year. SSP brings to our school a team of specialized coaches, software and equipment to help us make the most of our physical education programs. Three times a year, doctors and physical educators will test each child for body composition and fitness using international protocols.
The focus of the year round programs will be to ensure personal attention to the children and on making all children physically fit through training in multiple sports. SSP will also provide a platform for talented children to receive advanced levels of training and subsequent competition exposure. State of the art equipment in multiple sports will be made available for the children by SSP. We hope that the children will take full advantage of this opportunity.
Spiritual
Schools are so busy completing their academic tasks that there is little time to address the spiritual lives of their children. Values, attitudes and correct habits are hard to measure objectively and are often neglected completely in the school curriculum. Dr Raman Khosla a well known psychiatrist from Pune who has a world of experience in schools and with young people , spends 2 days with the children and teachers every month. He believes in value based audio visual learning and says
"avgun dekhne ho to apne me dekho, sadgun doosre mein dekho". He has used "The lion king " to emphasize family values and the importance of listening to elders. He also showed children the movie "Gandhi" to teach values and for heritage education. The film was followed by bhajan singing , a visit to Aga Khan palace and to the Naturopathy center in Uruli Kanchan.
Vedic Maths
Vedic Mathematics is an ancient system of Mathematics, based on 16 sutras and 13 sub-sutras. Mathematics has always occupied a place of pride in Indian heritage. In contrast to the single dimension conventional methods that encourage students to use the calculator to solve their tedious procedure Vedic Mathematics presents a new approach to Mathematics, offering simple, direct, easy to grasp, one line or mental solution to Mathematical problems. With the help of Vedic Mathematics, Algebra , Geometry, Trigonometry and many other topics can also be solved with ease that sometimes cannot even be done by using a calculator. So, Vedic Mathematics is an extremely efficient, refined Mathematical system. Parul Vaish, a post-graduate from IIT, has been conducting Vedic Mathematics classes for a wide spectrum of people including students for the past five years. She has been developing various skills and techniques in Vedic Mathematics. She also works in close correspondence with children of younger classes in an international school. She will now be conducting classes for children from grade 4 onwards.
